Desert Road Ministries was formed March 1, 2022. However, the vision of the ministry existed long before that. When Meagan Butler was 15 years old, she wrote in her journal that she wanted to run a “mental health center.” It came from a desire to provide comfort to those who were going through rough emotional experiences.
Over the next 20 years, God walked with Meagan through preparation she could not have anticipated. He grew her in spiritual maturity through college ministry. This ministry sparked a love for Bible study and service. Meagan participated in the Women’s Discipleship Training Program at Denton Bible and went on to study at Dallas Theological Seminary.

It was during her time at seminary that she experienced the disenchanting side of working for church. Meagan served in ministry during a church split, battled her own insecurities, anxieties, and depression, slid into spiritual burnout, and left ministry and seminary believing her church days were over. She was in the middle of a spiritual desert.
God brought a counselor into Meagan’s life that walked her through a spiritual healing process. This recovery journey grew a passion in Meagan for other struggling ministry leaders. Meagan enrolled at Dallas Theological Seminary for a second time to pursue a counseling degree. During this time, the idea for Desert Road Ministries slowly came to fruition. Meagan envisioned a recovery center dedicated to enriching the spiritual health of ministry leaders.
This endeavor could not be done alone. God provided Meagan teammates to bring the vision into reality. Charlotte Sanders and Alexandra Roark came alongside Meagan as directors of Desert Road Ministries. Together, they formed a program that supports not only ministry leaders, but their families, as well. Charlotte’s dedication to women’s issues and family counseling filled a need within the Desert Road Ministries Program. Alexandra’s experience growing up as a pastor’s kid and her training in child and adolescent therapy and neurofeedback completed the program.
The work has just begun. The team at Desert Road Ministries is looking forward to seeing what God has in store. It is in surrender and faith that each step is taken. We believe that God will do amazing things through Desert Road Ministries.
