Howard Thomas, M.Div., M.Ed.
Advisory Council Member
Brief info
Howard has often felt the presence of God over his life from a young age. He accepted Christ at the age of 16 and later, in 2008, felt called to ministry while completing his Masters of Education. It was at that time he began wondering what was next.
Since accepting the journey to walk with Jesus as His disciple and co-mission partner, Howard has experienced many highs and lows. However, in Jesus Christ, the lows have also felt like an invitation of growth. God’s grace has sustained Howard through all seasons. The passion Howard has for ministry and to see Jesus’ Kingdom seen and felt can often lead to discouragement and burnout. There is such great truth in Jesus’ words, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” Howard longs to see others join God’s great mission in the context of inner city ministry.
Howard has a Masters in Education, Masters of Divinity, and Bachelors of Biology. He has 3 years of school teaching experience and over a decade of spiritual formation ministry experience. This experience has come by serving as a disciple and a seeker to make disciples among many diverse demographics of people and places. Howard highly values biblical counseling and healing. He hopes to share his knowledge and experience in these areas to Desert Road Ministries, and looks to do so with great joy and appreciation.
His favorite spiritual practice is evangelistic healing. He has seen Jesus heal in miraculous ways. Seeing people trust in the Healer Himself for their life is an exciting encounter with the Lord to Howard.
These passions and desires have led Howard to the path of now being an ordained reverend and church planter ministering in the inner city of Houston along with his wife, friends, and other partners on the Houston’s East side, Third Ward community, and any person the Lord sends their way.
